Symposium – Freestyle
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state”.
But freedom of movement is more than this. It’s not just a component of political dimensions, it also manifests itself in culture, science and education. In other words, in everyday life. But what does this freedom of movement – which we all take for granted – actually mean? How free are we to move physically and mentally?
On 6 October, during this symposium, GrensWerte brings together scientists, artists and interested parties to explore the question: “How free is our physical and mental freedom of movement?”
Via thought-provoking propositions and during active workshops, the notion of freedom of movement will be studied in more detail. In two series of presentations, Dutch and German individuals will focus attention on freedom of movement. Then, in workshops, artists will explain the practical aspects of freedom of movement, while enabling participants to test their own direct involvement with it and their attitude towards it.
